The bank teller reported to police that the suspect approached his teller window and presented a note which read “GIVE ME THE MONEY”. The teller explained to police that he complied with the suspect’s demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency.  The suspect took the money and placed it in a black duffle bag that he was carrying. The suspect proceeded to walk through the front doors of the bank running towards the 2100 block ofMurray Avenue.

The suspect is described as a W/M, 200+ lbs, large build, 30-40 years of age, wearing a heavy black jacket  with an unknown design on the left side, black baseball cap with a white A ( Atlanta Braves), blue jeans, white tennis shoes and carrying a black duffle bag.

PBP Robbery Squad and the Mobile Crime Unit arrived to process the scene. A surveillance photograph of the suspect entering the bank prior to the robbery is below.

PITTSBURGH:  On Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 9:53 AM, Zone 4 Officers responded to the 4300 block ofMurray Avenue (First National Bank) for a bank robbery.

Officers received information that a bank teller was approached at the teller window by a white male suspect who appeared to be very nervous. The suspect told the bank teller to “GIVE ME ALL OF THE MONEY”. When the bank teller hesitated, the suspect placed a note under the slot in the teller window with the wording, “GIVE ME ALL OF THE MONEY”.

The teller reported that the suspect reached towards his waistband and stated that he had a gun but no weapon was seen. The teller complied with the actor’s demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. The suspect exited the bank through the front doors and made a left running towardsGreenfield Avenue.  No one was harmed during this incident.

The suspect is described as a w/m, 5’7”, 170 lbs, medium build, 20-30 yo wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, black shorts extending below the knees, black baseball cap and black shoes.

Detectives from the PBP Robbery Squad and Mobile Crime Unit arrived to process the scene. A surveillance photograph of the suspect entering the bank prior to the robbery is below.

FIRST NIAGARA BANK – PERRYSVILLE BRANCH ROBBED

PITTSBURGH: On Friday, March 23, 2012 at 3:29PM, Zone 1 Officers responded to the 4000 block of Perrysville Avenue (First Niagara Bank) for a bank robbery which had just occurred.

It is reported by a bank employee he was approached at the teller window by a white female who appeared to be staggering and shaking. She placed a note at the window which read “This is a stick up. No dye,packs, no alarms. Nobody gets hurt.” The teller reported that he thought this was a joke as the entire

teller cage is enclosed with protective glass. The teller reported that the female actor pulled a gun from her purse slid it under the slot in the window at the teller station and stated, “This is not a joke.” The employee complied with the demands and gave over an undisclosed amount of US Currency. The actor exited the bank and turned onto Perrysville Avenue.

The actor was described as a w/f, 5’7”, 125lbs, thin build, pale complexion, 30-40yo wearing a tan sun visor, sunglasses, what appeared to be a blond wig wore in a beehive type hairstyle, black hoodie and black pants.

PBP Robbery Squad and the MCU arrived to process the scene. Surveillance footage has been released and is below.

The BankGuys web site was created in 1999 by a law enforcement officer then assigned to the investigation of bank robberies. Since retirement, efforts have been made to keep the site operational as a tool for the identification and apprehension of bank robbers. But over the years, it has become increasingly difficult to keep the content of the site current and complete. The site’s practical usefulness has become greatly diminished.

BankGuys will be ceasing operation over the next few weeks and months. New robberies will not be posted, but everything that is presently on the site — with the possible exception of the “Albums” feature — will remain available for historical viewing and searching.

The site web address will be changing. Eventually, you will no longer be able to access BankGuys with the web addresses of bankguys.us or bankguys.net. Those are paid domain registrations which will not be renewed, but will be expiring. Effective immediately and going forward indefinitely, you may access BankGuys at a free domain:

bankguys.wordpress.com

One of the trade-offs for free web hosting is occasional advertisements appearing on the site. So you may begin to see some ads. The ads will be selected by WordPress; the owner of BankGuys will have no control over what kind of ads may appear.

The “Albums” feature may or may not remain accessible. BankGuys’ albums are kept on a separate image hosting site, which is another paid subscription service. That service is also being discontinued. If a good, free alternative can be found, and if the transfer of all the photos to another site is not too time and labor intensive, the “Albums” feature might be kept. [Update: The Albums will remain. The photos have been transferred to a free web hosting site.]

Many thanks to the law enforcement officers, bank security officers, members of the news media, and alert citizens who have made BankGuys useful over the past 12 years. It has been a pleasure.
