GOOD NEWS! Bankguys will remain in operation. Many thanks to the creator of Bankguys – this is a great tool for financial institutions and law enforcement. I’d like to renew interest in this site and generate participation from financial institutions and law enforcement. Make every effort to submit bank robbery information and pictures in order to make this site effective and useful. Please forward this to your colleagues – I’m more than happy to add new members to the distribution list. THANKS.

BankGuys is ceasing operation.
The BankGuys web site was created in 1999 by a law enforcement officer then assigned to the investigation of bank robberies. Since retirement, efforts have been made to keep the site operational as a tool for the identification and apprehension of bank robbers. But over the years, it has become increasingly difficult to keep the content of the site current and complete. The site’s practical usefulness has become greatly diminished.
BankGuys will be ceasing operation over the next few weeks and months. New robberies will not be posted, but everything that is presently on the site — with the possible exception of the “Albums” feature — will remain available for historical viewing and searching.
The site web address will be changing. Eventually, you will no longer be able to access BankGuys with the web addresses of bankguys.us or bankguys.net. Those are paid domain registrations which will not be renewed, but will be expiring. Effective immediately and going forward indefinitely, you may access BankGuys at a free domain:
One of the trade-offs for free web hosting is occasional advertisements appearing on the site. So you may begin to see some ads. The ads will be selected by WordPress; the owner of BankGuys will have no control over what kind of ads may appear.
The “Albums” feature may or may not remain accessible. BankGuys’ albums are kept on a separate image hosting site, which is another paid subscription service. That service is also being discontinued. If a good, free alternative can be found, and if the transfer of all the photos to another site is not too time and labor intensive, the “Albums” feature might be kept. [Update: The Albums will remain. The photos have been transferred to a free web hosting site.]
Many thanks to the law enforcement officers, bank security officers, members of the news media, and alert citizens who have made BankGuys useful over the past 12 years. It has been a pleasure.

Two masked males entered the credit union, one armed with a silver pistol. Jumped over counter. Pushed two employees down to floor. One robber placed pistol at employee’s back. Fled in small dark car. ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

#1: Male, black, 5’9″ – 5’10″, average build, black Chicago Bulls ball cap, sunglasses, blue bandana over face, sport type jacket with dark blue sleeves and light blue front (back with distinctive red symbol), jeans, white gloves, black & white tennis shoes.
#2: Male, unknown race, 5’9″ – 5’10″, average build, dark hooded sweatshirt, black & white striped bandana on face, dark pants, black & white tennis shoes, brown gloves. Carried small silver pistol.

Made oral demand for money from multiple tellers while waving weapon at both tellers and platform personnel. Passed blue cloth bags to tellers to put money in. Told the tellers: “No dye packs!” Exited front door and attempted to run up steps behind the branch when dye packs exploded and bags containing money were dropped. No vehicle seen. ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

Lone masked male armed with semiautomatic pistol followed customer into bank. First robbed the customer, then robbed multiple teller stations. Pointed pistol at each teller and made loud demands, using profanity. Carried pillowcase to put money in. Also carried an open umbrella inside the bank during entire robbery. Exited bank through rear entrance and fled on foot down alley. ARMED AND DANGEROUS.
